Climate

Springs are the most pleasant times to be in İstanbul,as it is neither too cold nor too hot.You can wear short-sleeved shirts an deven shorts in May.However,İstanbul nights are a little bit colder and we advise you to take pullover with you.Although not a rainy season in a typical sense,it may rain.Keeping every possibility in mind,you should take an umbrella also considering our social program will be an outdoor activity.

 

Get around

Public Transport

You will need to use a ‘İstanbulkart’.Anonymous card is customized Travel Card which anybody can buy and load credit.It can be used at all modes of transportation.Anonymous card is 6 Turkish Liras and one trip is 2,10 TL,first transfer is 1,45 TL,second transfer is 1,15 TL.

As a congress participant,you are most likely to use the buses listed below:

*35-Eminönü-Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty

*35A-Beyazıt-Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty

*35C-Taksim-Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty

Metro

Istanbul’s metro consists of four lines. There is also a funicular system connecting Taksim to Kabatas where you can get on ferries and cross to the Anatolian side.

The M2 line is connecting Yenikapı which is near the Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. After you reach Yenikapı station, you should either take a taxi, which approximately costs around 7 Turkish lira or you should go by foot to the faculty which will take 15 minutes most. From Yenikapı station there is also a commuter rail line called Marmaray that offers connection between the European side and Asian side segments of the Istanbul metro. From Yenikapı station, Marmaray connects you to the Ayrılıkçeşmesi station in line M4.The M1 which is the most useful for visitors, is connecting Aksaray either to Atatürk Airport or Kirazlı station via the Otogar (coach station) .After you reach the Aksaray Station,if you follow the signboards for tram station,passing through an underground tunnel with little shops inside of it,you will reach the bus station to go to Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty.After you take one of the 35/35C/35A buses,you can catch Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty at the 2nd stop.

The M4 line from Kadıköy to Kartal is in the Asian side.If you wish to visit the Asian side of İstanbul you can take the ferry or Marmaray to connect to Kadıköy. The M2 line goes thorough the station Taksim, which is one of the most popular places in İstanbul.

Tram

A tram connects Zeytinburnu(connection to the metro line to the airport) to Kabatas (connection to the underground funicular to Taksim).The line serves many popular tourist sites( e.g. in Sultanahmet) and ferries (e.g. Eminönü) .

Between Taksim and Kabatas,there is a modern underground funicular that connects this tram linet o Taksim metro.The tram is also connected to the southern metro line (for the Otogar and Atatürk airport) at Aksaray station,though the metro and tram lines are short walk from each other.

Taxi

Taxis are an easy and cheap way to get around.Start off rate is 2.95 TL and then 1.83 TL for each kilometer.A one way travel from Zeytinburnu to Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty 20.00 TL.You can ask taxi drivers how much it costs to go from a place to another place.

Shared Taxi

‘Dolmuş’ is a shared taxi,travelled on a fixed route,which costs more than a bus but less than a normal taxi.They can carry up to 10 passengers.They are easy to recognize,because they also have the yellow painting like taxis and carry a Dolmuş sign on its top.

From the Ataturk Airport to the Faculty:
Take the M1a metro line. Get off at the stop Yusufpaşa. Once in the station, follow the signs to the bus stops. Cerrahpaşa to the Medical School buses have the number 35: 35/35A / 35C. From Yusufpaşa the second stop is Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.
From Esenler Bus Terminal to the Faculty:
Take the M1a metro line. Get off at the stop Yusufpaşa. Once in the station, follow the signs to the bus stops. Cerrahpaşa to the Medical School buses have the number 35: 35/35A / 35C. From Yusufpaşa the second stop is Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.
From the Sabiha Gokcen Airport to the Faculty:
1.Take Havataş services and get off at the stop Taksim (15 liras). At the Taksim Square go down to the tunnel where the bus stopsa are, to catch the bus 35C. Get off at the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine stop.
2. Using the information at the link: http://www.sabihagokcen.aero/passengers-and-visitors/transport-and-parking/transportation/public-buspage, go to Taksim or Eminonu , take the bus 35C from Taksim or the bus 35 from Eminönü and get off at the stop Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.
